Stunning accapella numbers share the spotlight with musical numbers ranging from Jazz to Disco, Rock to Pop, Classical and even original music by Minery himself. TAPAHOLICS truly has something for everyone “exploring all realms of tap’ by infusing old time tap with fresh and powerful youthfulness.” Best of Manhattan, New York Press. Michael Minery has established himself as one of the finest tap dancers working today. “He seems to have taken the best from Broadway style, hoofing, and competition tap dancing and blended them to create what we all love to see…” Dancer Magazine. CONTEMPORARY DANCE Synthesis Dance Project www.synthesisdanceproject.com Alternate Contact:(212) 591-1964 Synthesis Dance Project (SDP) challenges the boundaries of concert dance while respecting the integrity of all dance forms. Artistic Director, Tracie Stanfield lends her vision of dance as a unified art form, reflecting one’s personal connection between emotion and movement; the style of work is eclectic and the performance is expert. SDP’s current repertory program explores the struggle between appetite and will, concealing and revealing intentions through dynamic partnering, forceful rhythms and intense gestures. “(SDP exhibits) secure professionalism, strong choreography” Los Angeles Times. “The pictures developed in the choreography are unparalleled in the industry” A Turner. “One of ‘Nine DanceMakers Making History’” DanceSpirit Magazine. The best in BAREFOOT BALLET!!!! (6 dancers, $5,000—$12,000)
En L’Air Aerial Dance Theatre www.enlair.org An exciting blend of artistry and athleticism, beauty and raw power. En L'Air is dance in the next dimension, defying the traditional boundaries of dance and space. Kindra Williams never accepted the boundaries imposed on her by traditional dance. Starting as a dancer, then becoming a gymnast, and then it was off to the circus. Her years touring with Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus inspired Kindra to take her dance to the next level (literally). Not content to simply "perform aerial tricks," En L’Air "dances on air." The company is comprised of trained dancers who have joined her on the challenge to dance in the next dimension as she combines dance à terre with dance en l'air. (5 dancers—$8,000-$12,000)
NY Performers’ Project www.nyperformersproject.org An outlet for choreographers and dancers to explore the boundaries of dance movement and to create opportunities for the next generation of dance artists. The Project supports young, promising new talent creating and performing new works. The repertoire is influenced by everything from ballet to modern to jazz and American musical theatre to circus and cutting-edge choreography. The Project is comprised of versatile dancers presenting a diverse repertoire of works. Engagements are flexible and customized to meet the needs of each community. (6 dancers—$5,000 - $10,000)
