Students interested in learning more about internships with For Dance Inc. are invited to contact Director of Community Resources, info@fordance. Complete job descriptions are available upon request. Interns are asked to contribute a minimum of 20 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. As you will see from the list below, there are many interesting internships available. · Arts Administrator · Marketing/Public Relations · Graphic Designer · Sponsor Relations Intern · Web Developer/Designer - Festival Production Crew
Arts Administrator–Exposure and hands-on experience in the administration of programs. Assist with the coordination of all performers and event production as they relate to IDF-NYC and other programs. Assist in review of materials submitted by artists, coordination of maintaining on-going performer files, and review of performer contracts as they relate to producing event. Involvement with securing necessary resources to fulfill performer riders and contracts. Assist with sound and light designers and securing staging companies. Involvement with visual aspects of events (stage layout and design and visual site design). (Spring, Summer, Fall)
Marketing/Public Relations – Interns assist in the development and implementation of marking strategy for IDF-NYC 2004, writing and mailing news releases, as well as write copy for brochures, ads, postcards, website, and newsletter. Position also involves assisting and offering input in all forms of marketing, from Internet development to print advertising. Position may involve interaction with press, sponsors, and potential donors. Good communication skills and creativity a must. (Spring, Summer, Fall)
Graphic Designer – Interns are an integral part of the Marketing and Public Relations team that is responsible for the development and implementation of marking strategy for IDF-NYC 2004, by designing an overall “look” for the Festival, as well as the Website and newsletter. Position includes the creation of brochures, postcards, playbill, and souvenir program book, as well as the interaction and research of printing options. Position also involves assisting and offering input in all forms of marketing, from Internet development to print advertising. (Spring, Summer, Fall)
Sponsor Relations Intern - Assist in creating relationships with businesses, corporations, and individuals. Plan and implement the IDF Opening Night Party, and to provide hospitality for all the participants of IDF-NYC. Assist with all phases of sponsor relations before and during IDF-NYC 2004. Sponsor relations deals with the inter-related motivations of sponsorship such as building community awareness for area businesses, securing hospitality rights for client or employee recognition, marketing opportunities, or team building through volunteering. Interns will have the opportunity to assist in sponsorship fulfillment which may include involvement with media, interacting with representatives of festival and/or event sponsors, assistance with presentations, and assistance with the overall hospitality plan for the festival. Interns should have a diverse background in modern communication techniques, and possess a moderate knowledge of marketing, business and/or public relations skills. The ability to communicate effectively in face to face meetings and on the telephone is necessary. Moderate problem solving skills in the field are a plus. Attention to detail is a must. Web Developer/Designer - Candidate should have some experience developing database driven websites. Software/Skills may include, but are not limited to, the following: web page layout, graphic design, photo scanning, image compression (Internet), web development. (Spring, Summer, Fall)
Although these are unpaid internships, they offer a wealth of opportunities to see how an arts' organization operates, how a large festival is produced, and to work with a new and evolving arts organization. |
